These are panda leaves. Be sure to wash them. Tie them for easy removal later on. This is winter melon candy, it can also be eaten without cooking. It’s very sweet and have a chewy texture. If you don’t want to add winter melon candy, remember to add more rock sugar. Add around 800 ml to 1 liter of water, depending on how thick you want your dessert to be. First cook for 35 minutes. After 35 minutes, we are going to add in the sago. Wash the sago . . . and drain the sago. Ad the sago and cook for about 5 to 8 minutes. Be careful, If you overcooked the sago, it will dissolve. Cut away the top and bottom of the water chestnut. Peel. If you are using the water chestnut much later on, you can put them in cold water to prevent them from discoloring If you want, you can cut the water chestnut into bigger pieces. But I prefer smaller pieces for this recipe, as I find it taste better. Add the water chestnut and cook for 2 minutes. Remove the panda leaves. Today, I am using unsweetened grass jelly. Cut into small pieces. We don’t need so much grass jelly, I will making the remaining grass jelly to make another dessert. Some grass jelly are sweetened and some are unsweetened. So add . . . Sugar ! ! ! to taste . . . and panda leaves. and cook for about 10 minute or until the sugar dissolves. Overcooked grass jelly will also dissolve. Don’t cook for too long. My grass jelly was cook for too long, So it kind of dissolve a little. Strain out some grass jelly to be use later on. Add salt to an egg and mix well. Without the egg, this dessert can be kept in the fridge for a few days. I will be scoping out the portion, that I like to have for today, to be cook with the egg. Reheat the dessert. When it start to boil, drizzle the egg mixture. For this portion, I am only using about half an egg. Cook for about 5 seconds. This healthy and yummy dessert, can be eaten either warm or cold.
