I think this is the very first Canada-wide simultaneous space to Earth participatory broadcast like this. The very first time anything like this has been done right across the whole nation so I’m really, really pleased to be part of it. Thank you Chris. You can also send your videos and photos to musicmonday.ca. So Chris, are you ready to make some more history? Would you like to sing your song? Yes, Holly. I’m listening. If everybody is ready, I’ll get set up. Hope everybody has been practicing and everybody is ready to sing “Is Somebody Singing”. Let me get set up and we’ll get started. Everybody set? Here we go! 1-2-3-4. (Song) We really, really appreciate you taking the time out today. We know you have a busy schedule. We really enjoyed this. This was awesome. And if you can maybe just give us a few more words from space, close out and maybe do one of your astronaut space tricks, it would be awesome. There you go! Well, to the people at the Canadian Space Agency, you do something right on the edge of magic, allowing Canadians not only to be here in person like my case or the other astronauts like Jeremy or the folks that have been up here before, but for so many people to participate. The people who have been following and watching the videos, and the words and the images coming down from here and organizing an event like today where, where the exploration of the universe around our planet becomes part of everybody’s life. And not just the science. The science is important, but also the humanity of it, the beauty of it, the wonder of it, the perspective it gives to us, and the music that goes along with it. Those things are what make exploration worthwhile, because of what they bring back to us all. So thank you Jeremy for being there today. Of course Holly and the Coalition for Music Education, thank you so much for setting this up and for giving so many Canadians this opportunity for being together today. The people at the Canadian Space Agency, we all owe them a great deal of thanks for making this happen today. And everybody who participated today, right across the country, if you humed a note, if you sang the words, if you were leading the orchestra, this was a fun thing to be part of. So thank you everybody, happy Music Monday, and yes, somebody is singing. Chris, thank you very much. Now everyone, get your cameras ready. Let’s send a big Canadian wave and fill the skies with joyful thanks to Commander Chris Hadfield for reflecting our world to us, for sharing his mission. Safe return to home, Chris!

WOW. A beautiful song, a memorable experience. Gave me chills.
Awesome, Colonel Chris!!! ( if only you had time to link-up with Pink Floyd for Dark Side of the Moon! )

This brought tears to my eyes thinking about the thousands if not millions of young minds you've influenced into science, Chris. Know that you truly are a super-hero!

Can somebody write lyrics?
Nobody is going to read these lines but anyway… I wish Chris, Tom and Roman a safe reentry and landing. I congratulate Canada for all the support you've been giving to Chris and I want you to know that it was wonderful to watch Chris and hear all the wonderful and important things he said during this last few months up there in the ISS. And to Chris: "Please don't stop Chris. You are a very good influence to us all."
can someone give me lyrics for this song?
Awesome. Agree with the gentlemans comment below.
As an American, i say CSA FTW, at least they fund their space program!
I, as an American can say that Canada is better than us. ๐

Gives me goosebumps and joy and about 20 more emotions. What a wonderful Soul you are, Chris.

amazing stuff, Chris is an amazing person, i cant imagine how emotional it must be for him to leave space, and also how odd it will feel back with the restrictions of gravity, i can imagine him trying to do all of these things he used to do in space ๐ amazing guy and amazing video <3
When i first saw your video i definitely decided to be a pilot.I must reach my dream like you Chris .Thank you for your videos. We all wish you a successful return to earth.

On solid fuel and wires
Turn the key and the light the fires.
Weโre leaving Earth today
The rockets burning bright
Weโll soon be out of sight
And orbiting in space
Pushed back in my seat
Look out my window
There goes home
That ball of shiny blue houses everybody anybody ever knew
So sing your song Iโm listening out where stars are glistening
I can hear your voices bouncing off the moon
If you could see our Nation from the international space station
Youโd know why I want to get back soon (get back soon)
Eighteen thousand miles an hour
Fueled by science and solar power
The oceans racing past
At half a thousand tons
Ninety minutes Moon to Sun
A bullet canโt go half this fast
Floating from my seat
Look out my window
There goes Home (There goes home)
That brilliant ball of blue
Is where Iโm from, and also where Iโm going to
So sing your song Iโm listening out where stars are glistening
I can hear your voices bouncing off the moon
If you could see our Nation from the international space station
Youโd know why I want to get back soon (get back soon)
All back and white just fades to grey
Where the sunrises sixteen times a day
You canโt make out borders from up here
Just a spinning ball within a tiny atmosphere (atmosphere)
Pushed back in the seat
Look out my window
Here comes home (ho-ho-home)
What once was fueled by fear
Now has fifteen Nation orbiting together here.
So sing your song Iโm listening out where stars are glistening
I can hear your voices bouncing off the moon
If you could see our Nation from the international space station
Youโd know why I want to get back soon (get back soon)
Youโd know why I want to get back soon (getting back to you)
And meanwhile in turkey,it takes 2 hours to download a 1gb video……
it's amazing!
I agree–don't stop making videos once you're back on Earth! You still have a lot to teach us, Cmdr Hadfield (-:
wow this is incredible!
What an exciting time to be alive for!
This is the beginning of life in space, beyond our 'pale blue dot'(as some might put it).
Today I heard chris thank everyone 'back on earth' for their support. amazing! This is only the beginning.
Watching the news can get you down, all the suffering, exploitation and greed, but this brings real hope. Space exploration transcends race or border, religion or creed. Its humanity against the elements and into the unknown.
United
Well said Sir
youtube, please tell me who disliked this video ?
I've been wondering, how good internet connection is in ISS?
Thank you science! ๐
around 3Mbps but it's ongoing upgrading right now so it's gonna be quicker.
Probably super high ping times
Proud to be Canadian today!!!
I live in the future, omg
He did a video where he was asked questions by school kids and he said its really slow. Its has to be routed through a computer on the ground and then relayed back up to the ISS.
this is awesome!
around 10Mbit/sec down and 3Mbit/sec up, about the same as an average home on earth
Burn them alive!
Chris, you can make grown men cry like little girls with joy. I know this because I can't see what I'm typing ๐
So awesome – welcome home to earth from NYC!
probably not too bad, there's going to always be a bit of delay, but decent enough i suppose for the ISS.
Might be a bit of delay when things change, but i'd think its really good.
128kbps..
1 word "amazing" Please no more wars, to the leaders of this world stop your fighting and wars, give us total peace…
He got the best job in the world. No doubt about that.
+++++++++ Big Up ++++++++
Unfortunately peace is impossible.
Whow!
LITERALMENTE UNA ESTRELLA……..
LITERALMENTE UNA ESTRELLA……..LA MUSICA LENGUAJE UNIVERSAL….DESDE CHILE ….FELICITACIONES…..
Well considering a good amount internet signals get sent out to spaced and through satellites, i would guess not that bad ๐
The Internet connection uses the Ku-band, which delivers throughput around 10Mbit/sec down and 3Mbit/sec up from the station–roughly equivalent to a home Internet connection. The latency will undoubtedly be worse though, as the signal has to make a couple of round trips to geosynchronous orbit and back.
I'm never moaning about my Broadband speed again
Mind blown.
NASA Connection! #Kappa
Hammer wirklich Solo imotionsvoll
Better that ours, for sure! :))
What song is this? ๐
This must have been really hard for Chris to stay in time with the music because the delay between him singing something and then him hearing the same line from the people on Earth would be at least 2.6 seconds. Brilliant job!
That was covered in a previous school Q&A video. He said it's "slower than dialup", when they have it at all.
There is no internet as such on the ISS. The Astronauts have a remote desktop access to a PC on the ground, and that PC has a limited/restricted (but fast, I suspect) connection to Internet. That way the astronauts can be on social media.
One the astronaut wrote himself.
CANADA
He probably turned off the sound coming from Earth and just sang the song. The guys from Earth would just fall in after him.
Pretty bad. Worse than dial-up he said
2:15 this always makes me feel better.. what a great man
check this video out > Chris Hadfield and Barenaked Ladies: I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing)
๐
TABS PLEASE
He is so cool
Are you 59 earf old?
About 10 M/bit download and 3 M/bit upload
Why can't my country be like Canada :/
I have insufficient words for this. Just awe on so many levels of achievement, Go Chris, go Canada, go technology but most of all go the human race and spirit. I do feel ever so slightly jealous of younger kids as they will witness greater things in the future than I, but at the same time am thankful that I can witness an event like this for myself. I wonder at the people who shrug their shoulders incredulously at the wonders before them, If they could not see then they have never lived- waste
We are very grateful for everything you've done in space. Thanks for all Chris.
congratulations, great work together !!!!!
How can this have dislikes?
The world can learn a lot from you Canada ๐
Wat song is this?
