FORGET sausages and burgers — trendy outdoor cooks are using their barbecues to bake cakes  And the hipster tong-twirlers are also turning out bread, pizzas, Sunday roasts and curries in their upmarket barbies  It is part of a growing trend for all-year outdoors cooking, claims BBQ maker Kamado Joe  The firm said its charcoal adds a smoky twist not found with a traditional oven  Kamado Joe BBQ’s – a favourite of David Beckham – found that this summer Brits hosted an average of SIX barbecues for family and friends – cooked 700 million burgers and 626 million sausages on the barbecue And all this was smothered in 326million bottles of ketchup.  As many as 94 per cent of Brits say that barbecues and outdoor dining is the highlight of their summer but also there is a new demand to carry on cooking throughout the year  Head of Marketing Ben Forte said: “People are always surprised when I tell them that you can bake a cake in a Kamado Joe barbecue  “We use the highest grade lump wood charcoal that gives cakes and other baked good a hint of smoke that is delicious and unachievable in a traditional oven, it’s an entirely new depth of flavour  “You can bake anything from a red velvet to a loaf of bread in all of our Kamado Joe grills  “We’re getting a lot of interest at the moment from bakers and I think we have to put it down to the UK being Bake Off obsessed ”  Other celebrity owners include TV presenter Susannah Constantine, DJ BBQ, Dylan Hartley, Chrissy Teigen, Chris Stark, John Barclay, Rory Best and George North  Yesterday we told how Great British Bake Off fans slammed the show as a “fix” after Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith sent Phil Thorne home – despite other bakers suffering “catastrophes”  The 56-year-old was given his marching orders, even though the judges named Priya O’Shea and Michael Chakraverty as baking bunglers  One viewer raged: “Total fix and disgrace sending Phil home.
