Welcome to Lata’s Kitchen Moong dal halwa is a very delicious
and popular Indian Dessert Today I’m going to make moong dal halwa,
lets see the ingredients required to make it To make moong dal halwa we’ll need Washed Moong Dal – 1/2 cup Clarified Butter – 1/2 cup Sugar – 3/4 cup Saffron – 12-15 threads,
soaked in 1 tbsp warm milk Cardamom Powder – 1/4 tsp Cashew Nuts – 10, split into halves Almonds – 10, cut lengthwise Water – 1 1/2 cup Lets start making moong dal halwa Wash and soak moong dal in
2 cups of water for 6 hours Drain off extra water and Grind it into a coarse and thick
paste without adding any extra water Heat clarified butter in a pan Add 1 tbsp more clarified butter
if you not using a non stick pan Add dal to it and mix it
well with clarified butter If you are not using a non stick pan,
then first roast 1 tbsp semolina in pan When semolina becomes golden
brown, then add moong dal Now turn on the heat under the pan Cook it on medium high gas
while stirring continuously Semolina doesn’t let
it stick to the pan Take water in a sauce pan, add sugar and
cook till sugar gets dissolved in water Its been 6-7 minutes, now turn gas to
low and cook it till light golden brown Suagar has dissolved, turn off
the gas under saucepan Cook it by slightly pressing, It takes
around 15 to 20 minutes to cook it Clarified butter has
started to separate out It has turned into light
brown colored powder Moong Dal has roasted now turn off the gas Add sugar syrup to this roasted
moong dal little at a time Turn on the gas and cook
it on medium high heat Cover the pan and stir it
occasionally in meanwhile Add cardamom powder Cook till it gets thick It is getting thicker,
now add saffron to it Saffron gives a very nice
colour and aroma to the halwa You can adjust sugar
according to your taste Clarified butter has
started to separate out Halwa is ready, turn off the gas Add cashew nuts Take out moong dal halwa into a plate and
garnish with dry fruits of your choice Moong dal halwa is ready It is very tasty and
giving very nice aroma You can serve it as a sweet dish with
