CINDY: WE ARE GOING TO WATCH
THIS THROUGH THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND
AND MOST OF NEXT WEEK. IT MAY COME TO A HALT OVER THE
NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. IT IS NEARLY 800 MILES AWAY FROM
FLORIDA. RIGHT NOW, WE HAVE A HURRICANE
WATCH UP FOR THE BAHAMAS. THIS IS GOING TO MAKE AN
APPROACH IN THE NEXT 48 HOURS
TOWARDS THE BAHAMAS. IT IS A CATEGORY TWO WITH WIND
AROUND 105 MILES PER HOUR. LOOK AT THE WATER TEMPERATURES. THEY ARE WARM. WE THINK THAT IS GOING TO BE A
CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO ALLOW
THIS TO INTENSIFIED. THIS WILL POP UP TO A CATEGORY
FOUR. IT COULD PRODUCE CATASTROPHIC
DAMAGE PEDIA — CATASTROPHIC
DAMAGE. LANDFALL MONDAY NIGHT OR
TUESDAY. THIS GETS PUSHED FARTHER AND
FARTHER OUT. IT IS FORCAST TO BECOME A
CATEGORY THREE STORM TODAY AND
RAMP UP TO CATEGORY FOUR AS IT
APPROACHES THE BAHAMAS. WIND SPEEDS MAKE IT AS HIGH AS
140 MILES PER HOUR. IT IS STILL IN THE BAHAMAS
SUNDAY NIGHT AND IT PROBABLY
WILL NOT MAKE LANDFA UNTIL
MONDAY NIGHT. THIS MAY HOL OFF DURING LABOR
DAY. YOU CAN SEE HOW WIDE THE CONE
IS. A WIDE SWATH OF FLORIDA
PREPARING FOR THIS. ONCE IT MOVES ON LAND, IT MAY
SIT AND STALL FOR SEVERAL DAYS. YOU CAN SEE HOW THE CURRENT IS
MOVING WESTWARD AND IT GETS SO
SPREAD OUT AS WE GET CLOSE TO
LANDFALL HIGH-PRESSURE IS
STEERING THE STORM WEST AND THEN
AS IT WEAKENS, IT IS HARDER TO DETERMINE WHERE IT GOES. WHEN YOU GET INTO THE BLUE
SHADING, MORE THAN ONE FOOT OF
RAIN.
