A HIGH FLYING FAST MOVING JET. CIRCLING AROUND THE STORM. GETTING AN IDEA OF THE STEERING CURRENTS. THERE IS ANOTHER TYPE OF PLANE THAT TAKES OFF FROM HERE. THE LOWER FLYING, HEAVIER PLANES THAT GO RIGHT THROUGH THE STORM. THIS IS THE P3 ORION. RIGHT NOW AN IDENTICAL AIRCRAFT CULLED KERMIT IS GOING THROUGH HURRICANE DORIAN AS WE SPEAK. ON THE UNDER SIDE THESE HOLES ARE SHOOTS FOR VARIOUS TOES TOOLS TO FALL THROUGH AND SAMPLE THE ATMOSPHERE. ON THE UNDER SIDE, WE HAVE THE STEPPED FREQUENCY MICROWAVE. IT MEASURES THE WIND SPEED AT THE SURFACE. AND THIS RADAR. THIS HUGE THING WILL DROP 18 INCHES AND PROVIDE REALTIME INFORMATION OF THE EYE WALL AS THE PLANE IS FLYING THROUGH THE STORM. WHILE THE PLANE’S MISS PIGGY AND KERMIT ARE FLYING THROUGH DORIAN, WE WILL BE FLYING AROUND DORIAN ON OUR PLANE GANZO TO GET A BETTER IDEA OF THE STEERING CURRENTS.
