Hi Guys! This pas week has been so hot here in LA so
we are making one of my favorite summertime treats. I had a leftover watermelon from a BBQ so
I am turning it into watermelon granita. Think of granita as a kind of a fancy grown
up snow cone and best part – the only special equipment you need is a bender or food processor. Here is how you make it. First lets slice up the watermelon into 2
– 3 “ chunks. Then add it to a blender. It is totally ok if there are small seeds
in there because we can strain them out later. To that add simple syrup, which is sugar that
has been dissolved in water, lime juice and mint. Blend really well until smooth. We are then going to strain the watermelon
into a 9 x 13 pan. And place in the freezer. Every 30 minutes for the next two hours we
are going to remove the pan and gently scrape with a fork to break up any large clumps until
Eventually you have fluffy icy flakes just like a snow cone. Divide up the mixture and serve. You can top with whipped cream or maybe even
a shot of tequila but I personally just like it plain. Granita is a great way to use up extra fruit
or fruit that is about to go bad. You can make all sorts of flavors from berries
to peach to melon to citrus. Thanks so much for watching if you like this
